Friday is the opening ceremonies for the 2008 Olympics. This is a great chance for some fun geography learning.

One way to watch and learn (this is how my boys watch monster truck competitions) is to have each child pick a participant in each competition you watch that they will root for (they cannot pick the same person), have them find the country on a map and look it up on the site above. Learn about the countries that win medals (http://www.nbcolympics.com/medals/index.html), especially the underdogs.
